Pulmonology

A children's pulmonologist is a doctor who, together with pediatricians, diagnoses and treats lung and respiratory system diseases in children. In addition to respiratory infections which are the most common infections during childhood, the pulmonologist also deals with diagnosing, treating and monitoring children with asthma, allergies, cough, etc.

What do we provide?

Our pulmonologist will collect information and carry out an examination, and if necessary, expand the diagnostics to a lung function test (spirometry) or other tests, or consult other specialists.

We can provide your child with the necessary care and therapy, carry out inhalations in our clinic, monitor their progress during the day and apply necessary additional therapy until their condition stabilizes.

In children who have chronic lung diseases and require monitoring and regular check-ups, the pulmonologist will prescribe the best medicine to put the disease under control, i.e. introduce prophylaxis.

When to see a pulmonologist?

Parents often worry when their child is coughing because their first association with it is pneumonia. Cough can disrupt the sleep and normal functioning of the child, and sometimes of the entire family. Although it can be harmless, cough is a cause for a visit to the doctor, especially if the child is coughing longer than 10 days, if the cough is accompanied by a "hissing" sound from the chest, if the child coughs up a mucus containing blood traces or having an unpleasant smell.

A visit to the pulmonologist is often proposed by a pediatrician but you can also visit us at your own initiative.
