Gastroenterology

A children's gastroenterologist is a specialist who deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive tract (stomach, small intestine and colon, liver and pancreas).

What do we provide?

Consultations with a gastroenterologist can sometimes be followed by laboratory analyses, ultrasound examination and other additional testing with the aim of establishing a diagnosis and commencing treatment. We also provide counselling for proper nutrition of healthy children, bearing in mind the importance of timely disease prevention.

When to see a gastroenterologist?

Questions and concerns about nutrition of children arise in the first days of their life. Contact us if your child is not developing properly, if you have a suspicion, or your child has been confirmed to have an allergy to a particular food, or if the child has specific nutrition needs (e.g. celiac disease), abdominal pain, constipation, if you suspect they have intestinal parasites.

A visit to a gastroenterologist is also recommended when children have frequent or prolonged nausea, vomiting or difficulty in swallowing. You can schedule an appointment without a referral letter.
